Get it Monogrammed! The Top Things to See Monograms On

                                                 Top Places to See Monograms

Let’s face it folks; the monogram trend is here to stay. Everyone everywhere is hoping onto the three-letter monogram fad, finding everything and anything to put their initials on. If it can be monogrammed, it is monogrammed. How many items do you have that are monogrammed?!

Ultimately, monogram jewelry is at the forefront of the monogram trend. Everyone from celebrities to stay-at-home-moms is enjoying the fashion trend that is monogram necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings. Monogram jewelry is perfect for fancy and casual occasions alike.

“His” and “Hers” towels are so passé, the latest trend in personalized towels are monograms. Monogrammed towels make for excellent gifts for newly married couples, showing both their initials. They are also great for roommates to make sure everyone knows whose towels are whose.

When everyone has the same black suitcase for traveling, it can be difficult to determine which bag yours is coming down the conveyor belt. That is where monogramming comes in handy. With a monogrammed suitcase, you will always see your luggage coming. Plus it looks really chic!

T-shirts, windbreakers, sweatshirts, even men’s button down shirts and ties are getting monogrammed. Having your initials on a piece of clothing offers a great personalized touch to any outfit! While we used to hate when our parents put our initials on the tag of our clothes for gym or summer camp, we totally love the fancy monogram trend that everyone can see!

A popular gift for graduates or people starting out in a new job is a pen. Why give them any old pen when you can give them a monogrammed pen. It adds a little extra touch of class that is sure to touch the recipient’s heart as it showed you thought about them just a tad bit more.

Why have an ordinary purse when you can have something a little more extraordinary by having your monogram on it. You are sure not to lose it and no one will ever mistake your purse for theirs!

A case is necessary in order to protect your smartphone, so why not make it a personalized one? And with everyone carrying around the same phones, just like with purses, no one will mistake your phone as theirs because it will have your initials right on it.

The Meaning of Memorial Day

For many, Memorial Day marks the “official” start of the summer. It is celebrated by being with family, having BBQs, and going to concerts. However, the true meaning of this very special holiday tends to get lost amid all the joyous celebration.

Memorial Day is actually a very special holiday – it honors the brave men and women of the United States who have paid the ultimate price to ensure the freedom of all the country’s citizens. This holiday provides everyone with an opportunity to give thanks to the soldiers who have fought for and died protecting the freedom given to those who live under the Red, White, and Blue.

The holiday was formerly called “Decoration Day” and was created after the Civil War to commemorate the soldiers, both on the Confederate and Union, who died during the war. By the twentieth century, the holiday extended to all Americans serving in the United States and abroad.

Those who have lost family members and friends typically go visit their graves on this day and volunteers go around and place American flags at every grave at national cemeteries.

MyNameNecklace salutes the brave men and women whom we celebrate on Memorial Day.

What will you be doing this Memorial Day to celebrate and honor brave soldiers of the United States?

Top Ten Gifts for Grads!

Top Ten Gifts for Grads

Graduation time is upon us and if you have a family member, friend, or loved one about to don the cap and gown, walk down an aisle, and receive their diploma, you want to get them a special and meaningful gift. Something that will commemorate this day; something they are able to take with them on the next leg of their journey, wherever that may be. People may often be stumped trying to figure out the perfect gift that will celebrate the achievements of the recently graduated. No matter your budget, here are ten great gift ideas!

Monogram Cufflinks
Personalized accessories are often a great way to go. Not only can you get something that has their name or initials on it, but when they wear it, they will think of you and their graduation gift. For girls, select such items like the Sterling Silver Celebrity Monogram Necklace, the Sterling Silver Name Tag Necklace, or the Infinity Bracelet with Initial. And for guys, there is no better gift than a set of Monogram Cufflinks. This will dress up their best business suit for interviews!
Silver Tag Necklace
Personalized stationery and a pen  is always a good idea. Graduates can use it to print their resumes, follow up with potential employers, or even just keep in touch with family and friends no matter where they have moved off to. They can also use it to send out Thank You messages for their graduation gifts!

Get a graduate something they will need for the new apartment they will be moving into after graduation. Setting up a new home takes not only time, but also money. Giving a graduate something they can use to survive in their new place, like a set of pots and pans, a new microwave, or even a gift card to a home improvement store can go a long way and will be very much appreciated.

Universities often have great gyms that are free to use by the students. But once they graduate, it is no longer available to them. Get someone a gym membership. They are sure to appreciate it!

If a graduate is moving to a new city or country, get them a guidebook that will tell them all there is to see, do, and eat. This way, they will know what is around them and what they can do in their off hours. The TimeOut Guide is a great example

Speaking about moving, how about helping with the cost of renting a moving truck to take all their belongings to their new place. This will free up money so the graduate is able to buy more essentials for their apartment, including furniture and electronics.

It is very important for recent grads to start off on the right foot financially-speaking once they finish university. They will not only have to manage rent and bills, but also student loan payments. A great idea is to get a recent grad a few necessities that can aid them in their finances, including tax software (Like TurboTax or HRBLOCK) and financial planning books.

For all the years a student is in university, they rely on food from the dining hall or takeout. Afterwards, these recently graduated students will need a bit of a push in order to fend for themselves in a kitchen. Giving graduates recipe books will be beneficial to not only their health but also their wallets. There are numerous cookbooks for people on a budget and those who have never cooked a day in their life until now.

Students work really hard for a number of years in order to obtain their diploma, therefore, they can really appreciate the gift of having their diploma professionally framed, and even customized with the colors of their alma matter.

And if no other gift idea seems good enough, you can always go with one of the all-time gift staples – money! You can never go wrong giving some cold hard cash!

Congrats to the class of 2013! You did it!

Met Gala 2013

Autumn of MyNameNecklace here to sum up my personal favorite night of the year, the Oscars of the fashion world, the Met Gala! For those of you not in the know, the Met Gala, or formally known as the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.

Every an exhibit that is opened has a theme, and this year's theme is Punk: Chaos to Couture.

A lot of the guests of the event were inspired by the punk theme. The hottest celebrities gathered in New York for this event, let's take a look at the best and work looks of the night.

Emma Watson in Prabal Gurung
Emma Watson is my personal favorite celebrity, so she can almost never fail in my eyes. She stuns in this simple yet elegantly sexy dress custom made by Prabal Gurung. I absolutely love it!! I also like the look of the one dangling earring. A touch of edge for the punk themed night.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior
Jennifer Lawrence looking fabulously fifties with a netting piece on her face. Gorgeous as always!

Claire Danes in Oscar de la Renta
Claire Danes looks gorgeous in her Oscar de la Renta dress! But her hair didn't really match with the style of  the dress, nevertheless she looked really great!

Florence Welch in Givenchy
Florence Welch always knows how to bring on to the drama, and she didn't fail in this gorgeous Givenchy gown.

Anne Hathaway in vintage Valentino
Anne Hathaway loves Valentino and Valentino love Anne. She looks amazing in this dress though it could do with out the feather on the sleeves and I really dislike her newly blonde hair. Go back to being the beautiful brunette you are!

Beyonce in Givenchy
I'm really disappointed in Beyonce, last year she wore a show-stopping Givenchy gown but this year she fell short of that. I did not like her gown and especially not the matching boots. Maybe next time.

Emmy Rossum in Donna Karan Atelier
Emmy Rossum looked superb in Donna Karan Atelier. She went for a look perfect for the night - glamorous punk.

Amber Heard in Emilio Pucci
Amber Heard is looking red hot in this Emilio Pucci gown.

Kate Bosworth in Balmain
Huge fan of Kate Bosworth's style and she did not disappoint in this stunning Balmain mini-dress.

Allison Williams in Altuzarra
Allison Williams usually has pretty boring style so I'm happy when she goes a little edgy. I really like this Altuzarra gown!

Diane Kruger in Chanel
Diane Kruger is another style favorite of mine. She looks lovely in Chanel with her pink-dipped hair and love, Joshua Jackson, by her side.

Gwyenth Paltrow in Valentino
I'm sick from the sugary sweetness of this bubble gum pink dress worn by Gwyenth Paltrow. This dress is awful, this amount of pink can never be good. What was she thinking?

Nicole Richie in Topshop
Nicole Richie's dress is nice but I can't even concentrate on it because of her hair!!! What is that? It's all the wrong shades of grey, no matter that everyone is saying it's great.

Karlie Kloss in Louis Vuitton
I really didn't like this dress when I first saw it on Kate Moss on the runway but if anyone can pull a runway dress off it's Karlie Kloss. Still don't love it, but the styling here is much better.

Jessica Biel in Giambattista Valli
Even it's a bit on the quirky side I really love this Giambattista Valli worn by Jessica Biel.

Rooney Mara in Givenchy
Rooney Mara was bound to wear Givenchy as she was co-chair with Riccardo Tisci, the head designer of Givenchy. But she looked fabulous in this custom made gown.

Miley Cyrus in Marc Jacobs
EWWW. I'm sorry I know Miley Cyrus was going for the whole nineties punk era theme but NO. She does not look good.

Michelle Dockery in Burberry
Michelle Dockery looks amazing in Burberry, but it was bit on the boring side. The Met Gala is all about high glamour and she looks like she's going out for a nice dinner.

Lena Dunham in Erdem (with the designer)
Lena Dunham's Erdem dress is okay, and her hair and makeup is really beautiful, but I don't think the dress was very flattering on her.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Giles
Sarah Jessica Parker is the queen of the Met Ball and certainly turned heads in her Philip Treacy headpiece and Giles dress. Like the dress, not so much the headpiece.

Sienna Miller in Burberry
Sienna Miller wins for perfect combination of punk and glamour with this amazing Burberry leather jacket and gown. I also LOVE the studded headband.

Nina Dobrev in Monique Lhuillier
Can I just say that if Nina Dobrev's gown was an actual dress I would like it, or even if it was just the pant part with out the overlay.. Like this? Don't like it so much..

Jennifer Morrison in Donna Karan Atelier
Another beautiful gown by Donna Karan Atelier worn by Jennifer Morrison. Didn't love the hair though.

Cara Delevingne in Burberry
Model Cara Delevingne looked absolutely amazing in this custom made Burberry gown. This was definitely one of my favorite outfits of the night. I'm a sucker for studded things and Burberry!
