What is the correct order of initials for monogram jewelry?
A question we tend to get on a regular basis here at MyNameNeclace is the following: “How should I write my monogram letter order?” Many times a customer will write their initials in the way they normally appear, which is actually the wrong way to do it for a monogram.
Rather than you receiving an incorrect monogram, let’s go over proper monogram letter order.
For example, if the name to be monogrammed is Miriam Sophie Allman, while the regular initials are in this order – MSA, the monogram initials should be in the following order – SAM. This is because the letter in the middle is larger and set apart. Therefore, the last name should always be the middle initial.
The same is true if you want to include your significant other in your monogram. If Miriam wants a monogram with her husband Joe, The monogram would look like the following – MAJ, with Miriam’s initial on one side of the “A” and Joe’s initial on the other side.
