I Am Woman Hear Me Roar! International Women's Day is this Saturday

Celebrate International Women's Day on Saturday!

Saturday March 8th is International Women's Day. We will celebrate the great woman who we admire and who through their own struggle, have helped women earn things that today we take for granted; like voting rights, and positions of power in the male dominated workplace.

For years and years women were a forgotten second to men, and if they wanted to pursue a career they would many times have to endure being a lone women in a typical all male environment. But pioneers like the Nobel winning scientist Marie Curie ushered in a new era of proving they were every bit the equal to their male counterparts. Later on, after the feminist revolution of the 1970's, media figures like Oprah helped shape the role modern women have in society, and showed that women can become media magnates. By the late 1990's the revolution was in full force, with Sarah Jessica Parker starring as "Carrie" on the hit HBO show "Sex and the City". Parker's character Carrie debuted the iconic Carrie necklace, as a statement piece showing who she is, and why she is a truly modern and independent woman.

These days Kate Middleton is continuing the trend of smart and successful woman, who are not afraid to show their fashion sense either. The Royal Duchess of Cambridge not only inspires others in her fashion choices, but also by fighting for the important issues facing woman today. Nor are women afraid that being a mother will derail their careers, as mother Marissa Mayer has been showing the last few years, while holding down key positions in the Silicon Valley tech industry. Kate Middleton is so proud of being a mother, that she has a special mom necklace to remind her of it daily
